Doris Jean Brown (Dimples) was born on December 4,1980, to parents, Joyce W. Brown and Troy Porter in Chicago, Illinois. She is the oldest of three children. On December 28, 2021, God called his Angel home.
Doris accepted Christ at a young age. She attended and graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago, Illinois. Doris later went on to become a successful hairstylist and entrepreneur. She owned several salons in Chicago and McKinney, Texas, which was one of her greatest passions along with designing and selling custom jewelry for her online store.
Doris was a good and kindhearted person who would do anything for the people that she loved. She had no boundaries when it came to the love and strength she presented. Doris was very active in feeding the homeless along with volunteering and providing support at the Battered Women Shelter.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her grandmother, Doris J. Marshall; mother, Joyce W. Brown; stepfather, Robert Wilson; father, Troy Porter; two brothers, Darnell J. Benson and Troy Porter Jr.; children, Joyce W. Brown “Missy”, Aaron M. Brown “Professor”, Alonzo M. Whitfield-Brown “Maurice”, and Meghan Brown; aunts, Kim Thurmond (Jerry Thurmond), and Dorothea Thurmond (Frank Ehigie); uncle, Bobby L. Brown and wife, Lynetta; extremely special friends, Kip Dixon, and Neala McGuire along with a host of family and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Dorothea Jordan “Honey” whom she loved dearly; great-grandfather, Tommy Jordan; and grandfather, Charles Marshall.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Friday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
