Dora Mae was born November 24, 1939 to Oadus & Georgie Vandagriff in Nobility, Texas and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2022.

Dora grew up in Desert attending school in Trenton, where she graduated in 1957. She chose a career in electronics where she worked until her retirement in 2001. She met and married the love of her life, Tom Hackney on September 3, 1971 and they made their home in McKinney. They had a very special 3 years in Seligman, MO where they followed the Lord’s calling by serving in Immanuel Baptist Church in Rogers, AR. They later moved back to her home area in Nobility and finally to Leonard. Her hobbies included spending time with her many grandchildren, collecting dolls, reading and serving the Lord in Children’s Ministry and missions to Mexico through her church, First Baptist of Leonard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Danny Vandagriff, her sister Oleta Jones, her brothers Jim Vandagriff and GL Vandagriff, her daughter Pamela Escobedo, her grandson JW Davis and her great-grandson Lewis Gregory.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tom Hackney, her sister Lynda Rosson, her brother Bob Vandagriff, her daughters Jonanna Davis and Rebekah Galliart, and her son Bud Hackney. She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Leonard, TX at 1:00 pm. Family visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard. Internment will be at West Shady Grove Cemetery, Trenton, TX.
