COL (R) Donovan Dwight Jurgens Ollar entered Heaven’s gates on February 16th of 2022 at 51 years of age. Don was born on August 1st of 1970 to Charles and Marjorie (Jurgens) Ollar in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Much like his two daughters Don grew up traveling the world as an Army brat. Don was dedicated to athletics playing football and running track at Cabot High School in Cabot, Arkansas where he graduated. Following a year at prep school, Don then went on to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point where he played football and was a member of the powerlifting team. At USMA he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. While there he met his soulmate and future wife Sue Laird Ollar. They were married on October 22nd, 1994. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri at Rolla and was a licensed Professional Engineer.
He proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years and retired as a Colonel. Don will be remembered for his great leadership abilities and to a much greater point his love for Army football. Don had a smile that made you love him more and more each time you saw it. He had such a great sense of humor and a perfect blend of child-like persona mixed with a disciplined warrior. He possessed the rare ability to teach those around him while also instilling confidence and building others up.
Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Laird Ollar of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughters, Katelyn and Shelby; brothers, Matt and John Ollar; sister, Laurie Ollar; along with his nieces and nephews.
