Donna Elaine (Ward) Blackstock passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 10, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on October 24, 1946, to parents, Robert Lee Ward and Laura Louise (Golden) Ward, in Paris, Texas. She married Charles Ray Blackstock on August 27, 1982, in Wylie, Texas.
Donna was an exceptional piano player and music teacher. She loved Gospel music. She used her God given gift to praise the Lord, being the choir director, member of the praise team, traveling with her group Victory, teaching Sunday School and being a mighty prayer warrior. Donna loved to cook, was an avid reader, published author and newspaper columnist. Donna worked as a medical transcription for 40 years. She was involved in many community clubs. She loved driving her friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved spending time with her brother shooting guns and canning fruit.
Her greatest joy was her family and she did not want to miss a single event or family trip. She loved Christmas, coconut pie and eating peanut butter with a spoon. If you knew her you loved her and she loved you. She will be missed by the family she loved and her many friends.
Donna will be remembered by her children, Deanna Tiller of Celeste, Texas, Shari Curtiss of Celeste, Texas, Robert Wood and wife, Jeri of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and James Ray Blackstock of Celeste, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Duncan and husband, Kevin, Elaine Brown and husband, Brandon, Whitley Heer and husband, Jonathan, Logan Curtiss and wife, Sarah, Nicholas Wood and wife, Ellie, and Jamie Montgomery and husband, Charles; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Austin, Maddie, Mark, Ryleigh, Laine, Harper, Baley, Jessie, Ty, Leah, Bryson, Sadie, Kodee, Corbin, Waylon, Liam, Alara, Robin, Ashlyn, Clay, Kaytlyn, Colton, and James David; great great grandchildren, Raylynn, Kinsley and Carson; and brother, Robert Daniel Ward and wife, Kitty, of Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Laura Ward; husband, Charles Ray Blackstock; sons, Roy Mark Wood and Garry Blackstock; grandson, Kenneth James Wood; and great-granddaughters, Alexandria Curtiss and Kinzleigh Short.
The family will welcome guests at a visitation from 6-8PM, Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home, 701 North Cedar Street, Leonard, Texas 75452. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Jim Sherwin, will be held at 2 PM, Monday, November 17, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, 203 West Cockrell Street, Celeste, Texas 75423. Following the funeral service, the burial will be at Hogeye Celeste Cemetery.
