IN LOVING MEMORY

Donna Dunn Simes

Apr 03 1940 - May 06 2025

Donna Dunn Simes of Dallas, Texas passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on April 3, 1940, in Clovis, New Mexico, Donna was the cherished daughter of Harvey Dunn and Mary Beth (Shelley) Dunn and later became the loving older sister of Lewis Dunn.

She spent her early years surrounded by the values of faith, family, and community that would guide her throughout her life. Donna graduated from Lubbock High School in 1958 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Tech University.

Over the years, Donna wore many hats — teacher, mother, seller of ribbons, supreme gift-wrapper, and manager. But for Donna, each role was more than a title; it was a chance to learn, grow, and build meaningful connections with those around her.

Outside of work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved tending her garden, volunteering at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, and sharing her musical talents — whether playing handbells, piano, or violin. Donna also embraced an active life, enjoying bridge, tennis, and skiing in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. In everything she did, she brought warmth, grace, and quiet strength.

More than anything, Donna will be remembered for the deep love she held for her family, her friends, and her beloved pets — the true heart of her world.

She is survived by daughter Elizabeth Fairchild and husband, Brock of Allen, Texas; grandchild, Brennan Fairchild of Tucson, Arizona; grandchild, Ashlyn Fairchild of San Antonio, Texas; grandchild, Sabrina Fairchild of Allen, Texas; brother, Lewis Dunn of Lubbock, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Mary Beth Dunn.

A memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church of Allen, Texas, June 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 9999 Ferguson Road, Dallas, Texas 75228 or The Nature Conservancy.
