Donald Wayne Parks of Sherman, Texas passed away April 8, 2022, at the age of 79. He was born on April 15, 1942, to Rita Bell Pace and Ellis Wesley Parks in Sherman, Texas. He graduated class of 1961 from Leonard High School. Donald married Carolyn Sue Berry on November 29,1963 in Leonard, Texas. He served 2 years in the Army from August 1966 to July 1968.
Donald enjoyed traveling in his motor home with wife and friends, drag racing, fishing, and hunting. He worked for Texas Instruments for 35 years at plants in Dallas, Sherman, Houston, and Lubbock. He spent 30 years working as a glass blower and glass shop supervisor. He helped start up the southwest section of The American Scientific Glass Blowers Society while in Houston and served as Vice President and President. Donald took early retirement in 1998.
He was a member of the Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman Texas.
Donald is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Parks of Sherman, Texas; nephew, Nathan Parks and wife, Katie; great nephews, Cody and Ben Parks; brother-in-laws, Sonny Berry and wife, Sandy, Howard Berry, and Freddy Berry; and sister in laws, Dorothy Moore and Beverly Grimmett and husband, Mike.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Rita Bell Pace Parks; father, Ellis Wesley Parks; stepmother, Lola Dee Sudderth Parks; brother, Jimmy Lee Parks; and his nephew, Robert James Berry.
A funeral service for Donald will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman, Texas. Family will welcome family and friends to a visitation at 10:00am. Following the service, a procession will lead to Leonard Cemetery.
