Donald Eugene McClain of Plano, Texas passed away on December 24, 2020 at the age of 91. He was born on March 30, 1929 to Harold Ralph McClain and Genetta McClain in Southport, Indiana. Donald graduated from Southport High School and then volunterred into the U.S. Air Force in 1946 where he proudly served his country for 27 years. He received his honorable discharge on May 31, 1974. Donald received the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1971 while stationed in Vietnam. Donald married Floy Faye Beckham on March 12, 1949 in Marion County, Indiana. His hobbies included flying, fishing, hunting, traveling, camping, mechanic, keeping up on current events. He built a boat in Puerto Rico. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.
Donald is survived by his wife, Floy Faye McClain of Plano, Texas; son, Micheal Eugene McClain and wife, Luanne of Plano, Texas; daughters, Patti Fuller of Camby, Indiana and Deborah Kay Roan of McKinney; grandchildren, Leigh Kistner and husband, Steve, Morgan Elkins and husband, Austin, Cheryl Hillock and husband, Andrew, Travis Roan, Kyle Roan and wife, Haley and Brandon McClain and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Genetta McClain; brothers, James Albert, Harold “Mac” Leaory, Kenneth Ferman; sister, Nelda Mae Darnell McClain; son-in-law, Berry Roan, Jr.
A “come and go” visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at First United Methodist Church Plano, 3160 East Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75074.
Following the funeral service, a private interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
