Don Thomason went to his heavenly home on May 3, 2016, passing peacefully at his residence in Frisco, Texas. If one knew Don, one understood his independence and strong will - a man who truly lived life his way. So it is no surprise he chose to stay at home and die his way, a choice his children honored.
Don was born February 17, 1927, in Celina, Texas, and baptized at the age of 14 at the Celina Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II and married Geneva Langley on September 3, 1955. An avid golfer with a passion for the game of poker, he retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone with 38 years of service, giving him more time to enjoy the things he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geneva (Langley) Thomason, children, Charles Thomason and wife Gwen of Prosper, Texas; Phyllis Thomason James and husband David of Gunter, Texas; and Cecil Andrew Thomason of Richardson, Texas. He has four grandchildren, Whitney James Rainer and husband Cash; Lacy James; Daniel Thomason; and Jaime Thomason. He was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Creed and Will Rainer; Trinity Wilson; and Judah and Violet Rodriguez. He is also survived by one sister, Jean Finley, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Romo. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Alla B and Cecil Thomason; grand baby Thomson; brother, Freddie Thomason; and sister, Mary Rogers.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, 75033, on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
