Col. Donald Paul Greenwald, age 80, of Frisco, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in Plano, Texas. He was born August 20, 1938, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Helen (Paschkaett) and Paul Adolf Greenwald. Subsequent to graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Donald entered the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He served with distinction for more than 20 years, including two combat tours in Vietnam. He served in numerous positions of distinction, including Battalion and Brigade Commander, while rising to the rank of full Colonel. Following his military career, Donald moved to the state of Arizona and became a valued member of the Arizona Department of Corrections. There he also held a variety of leadership positions, including Deputy Warden, Deputy Assistant Director and Assistant Director.
An avid sports fan, Donald enjoyed golf and racket ball, but most of all, he loved his Wisconsin Badgers, Chicago Cubs and Green bay Packers.
Donald is survived by his wife, Darla Elliott; his children, John Greenwald and his wife, Jean, of Larson, Wisconsin, and Anne Marie Greenwald of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Christina and Eric Kiefer, Erica Clark, Rebecha and Brian Harrah, Michelle and Casey Anderson and Riley and Samantha Greenwald; six great-grandchildren, Mia, Zack, Penelope, Quintin, James, Waylon, and a future packer fan to be named later; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Harry Greenwald and Kenneth Greenwald.
A Memorial Service will be held at Frisco First Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Chuck Martin. Interment at DFW National Cemetery will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
