Donald LeRoy Glossop Jr.

Donald LeRoy Glossop Jr. of Frisco, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the age of 86.  He was born on February 17, 1933, in Aurora, Illinois, to Helen Marion (Johnson) and Donald LeRoy Glossop Sr.  Donald married Marjorie Ann Nelson in Aurora on June 25, 1960.  He proudly served in the United States Army.  Donald obtained his Engineering Degree from Illinois Institute of Technology and his MBA from University of Michigan.  He worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan, for 43 years where he started his family.  He was responsible for many engineering improvements.  Most notably he developed and patented the first glass window for a soft top convertible and adjustable gas and brake pedals.  He also worked internationally coordinating engineering ideas across Ford Motor Company in Europe and the US, having spent time living in London, England, Cologne, Germany and Turin, Italy. 

Outside of work, Don loved sports, particularly baseball, played on intramural teams, coached teams for his children and was an enthusiastic cheerleader for his grandchildren.  He was also very supportive of Marge’s music and designed travel cases for her steel drum.  He and Marge traveled extensively having a particular love for Hawaii and made a point to visit family and friends frequently. 

Donald is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Marjorie Glossop; his daughter, Crystal Curry of Plano, Texas; his son, Dean Glossop and his wife, Sue, of Inman, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Scott Nelson Curry and Abigail Marie Curry, both of Plano; his brother, Dr. Ronald J. Glossop and his wife, Audrey, of Oakwood, Missouri; his sister, Carol Johnson of Newberry, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Christopher Robert Curry, and his parents, Helen and Donald Glossop Sr.

A memorial service will be held at Parson’s House, 5850 Ohio Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Friday, October 4, 2019, at 3:00 p.m.  Visitation will be at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas, on Sunday, October 6, 2019, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, Illinois, on October 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m.
