Donald Harry McBride passed away November 17, 2023 in McKinney, Texas. He was born on December 5, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio to Harry and Ethel McBride.
Don grew up in the Northeast Ohio area and graduated from Willoughby Union High School. On the bus, Don met his soulmate, Lillian. After high school, he attended Kent State University where he received his bachelor’s degree. During his time at Kent State University Don and Lillian got married and were blessed with their son, David. More blessings came with their daughter Diane. After school, They were blessed with another son Daniel. Don went to work with Harshaw Chemical Co. in Ohio before they became Engelhard. He retired from Engelhard in 1992 and moved to Texas soon after. Retirement didn’t suit Don, so he hired on with Ribelin Sales Inc. where he worked before he decided to start his own business, Tiger Blinds. He then moved on to Classic Blinds where he has worked for 15+ years. Don was a devoted family man, he also coached youth sports where he was able to spend more time with his kids. He worked his whole life to provide the best he could for his whole family as well as his community and many church and charity organizations.
He is survived by his son, David McBride and his wife Mary Ellen, of South Lake Tahoe, California. His daughter, Diane Miller of Lewisville, Texas. Granddaughter. Stephani Miller of Lewisville, TX, granddaughter Emily McBride of Boston, Massachusetts, grandson Jeremy Miller of Dallas, Texas, and grandson, Daniel McBride Eging of Utah. Great Granddaughter, Jace Wood of Lewisville, Texas and a host of other loving family and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Lillian McBride. His son, Daniel McBride. His parents and sister, Virginia Lashley.
A memorial service will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Prestonwood Baptist Church 1001 W Prosper Trail, Prosper, Texas 75078. Inurnment will be held 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
