Donald “Don” Wayne Davis of McKinney, Texas passed away on November 4, 2016 at the age of 77. He was born on December 15, 1938 to John Lee and Lois Dale (Pack) Davis in Stephenville, Texas. Don grew up in Stephenville where he graduated from high school in 1957. He went on to Baylor University on a football scholarship graduating in 1961 with a bachelor degree in business marketing. Later, Don earned his master’s degree in business from Harvard School of Business. After college, he entered into the 'executive training program' for the Carnation Company. Don started as wholesale manager in 1962 with Wolfe Nurseries where he later became CEO. He married Mary Ann Schmoker on August 12, 1961 in Ft. Worth. Don proudly served his country in the United States National Guard. He enjoyed coaching his children in youth sports as they grew up, loved deep sea fishing and was an avid hunter. He was a man of great integrity and had a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Don was an Elder of Torrey Pines Christian Church in La Jolla, California. Once Don and his family came back to Texas he and Mary Ann attended 'First Christian Church' of Ft. Worth and 'Crosspoint Church of McKinney.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Davis of McKinney; children, Michael Don Davis of Houston, Gregory Chris Davis and wife, Kelly Marie of McKinney, Vanessa Ann Davis of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Ann Joy Davis, John Donald Davis, Kathryn Cecilia Davis, Timothy Michael Davis, Christian Gregory Davis, Allyson Christine Davis; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday afternoon, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
