Donald "Don" James VanGordon

Donald (Don) James VanGordon of Lucas, Texas passed away on January 19, 2019 at the age of 60.  He was born on July 8, 1958 to Fredrick and Florence (McFarlane) VanGordon in Pontiac, Michigan. 

Don graduated from Milford High School in 1976. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from January 1977 until January 1981.  Don married Karen Alexander on December 18, 1982 in Milford, Michigan. He graduated with an Electronic Engineering Diploma. Don was an avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist, music lover and found great joy spending time with his horses, Tex and Whisky.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Karen VanGordon of Lucas, Texas; brothers, Bob VanGordon and wife, Barb of Michigan and Jeff VanGordon and wife, Nadeen of North Carolina; sister, Patricia VanGordon of Kentucky; sister-in-law, Kathy VanGordon of Michigan.

Don is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families, Cynthia Hutchins, Julie (Jason) Darr, Jill (Darrin) Loyer, Jessica (Michael) Dabish, Kayla (Evan) Meinicke, Erin (fiancé, Joey Williamson) VanGordon, Nicci (Kristjan) Jonnson, Carey Willis, Devin (Uyen) Willis, Elizabeth (Scott) Janson, J.T. (Jaclyn) VanGordon, Jared (Gianna) VanGordon and special “Little Brother” Brad Devine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Florence VanGordon; and brother, Ron VanGordon.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

Interment and Military Honors will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Milford Michigan Memorial Cemetery with a hometown Celebration of Life for Don.  Details will be coordinated through Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors in Milford Michigan.

Please do not send flowers as Karen is highly allergic.
