Donald S. Carpenter, age 75, of Sherman, Texas, passed away December 16, 2008, in Bonham. Donald was born November 21, 1933, in Big Spring, Texas, to Sidney and Esther (Thomas) Carpenter. He married Patricia Maxine Skinner on June 2, 1952 in Grand Prairie, Texas. Donald grew up in Grand Prairie and played football at Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Masonic Lodge in Plano, also a member of Eastern Star Chapter #703. He attended First United Methodist Church in Tom Bean, Texas and was a member of First Christian Church in Plano, Texas. Donald worked for Lockheed-Martin, formerly LTV, as a manufacturing engineer. He was a proud member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his son, Gary Carpenter of Austin, Texas; daughter, Cindy Colesworthy of Ft. Worth, Texas; adopted daughter, Debbie Lander Cowan; brother, Billy Carpenter of Florida; sister, Ann “Sissy” Arney of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Carpenter, Kelly Landers, and Audrey and Will Cowan. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
