Donald Albert Meyer, 90, of Frisco, Texas, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27,1931, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Bernard Gentry Meyer and Emma Schapper Meyer. He attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where he was a member of Alpha Delta Fraternity. Don was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered as a devoted family man who so dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald served in the US Air Force from 1953-1955 in Orlando, Florida. It was there he met and married the love of his life, Mary Louise “Lou” Register, on July 12, 1956, in Orlando, Florida. They resided in Central Florida for nearly 50 years and they were blessed with two sons. Don retired from IBM on April 11, 1985, after a 25 year career.
Donald is survived by his sons, Scott Meyer and his wife, Karlyn, of Frisco, Texas, and Douglas Meyer and his wife, Suzanne, of Woodbridge, Virginia; his grandchildren, Kaley Buster (Mark), Zack Meyer, Savanna Meyer and Mitchell Meyer; his great-grandchildren, Liam Buster, Eleanor Buster and Theo Buster; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lou; his grandson, Jake Meyer; and his brother, Bernard Meyer Jr.
The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrook Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75034. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in his honor to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrook Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75034.
