Don Lisenbee of McKinney, Texas passed away on July 22, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born on January 10, 1936 to Josiah and Goldie Belle (Briggs) Lisenbee in Versailles, Illinois. Don spent most of his childhood in Quincy, Illinois and Ewing, Missouri helping farm his parents’ land. After finishing high school, he joined the Army and served in Germany at the end of the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to Quincy, he met the love of his life Mary Huls, and they were married November 1, 1961. Don and Mary then moved to Dallas, Texas in the spring of 1963 where he went to work as a machinist making parts for airplanes and one of the space shuttles that is currently at the Air and Space Museum in Washington DC. They moved to Allen in 1972 where their kids finished school. Don and Mary were charter members of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Allen Texas and attended for many years. They, along with several members of Christ the Servant, bought homes in Mt. Vernon Texas on Lake Cypress Springs. He spent countless hours fishing and hanging out with his friends and family. Don never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He retired in 1999 from his work as a machinist so he could spend time with his wife, kids and grandkids. Don and Mary did a lot of traveling after retirement and visited all 50 states. He also took up woodworking as a hobby and made family members many items over the years.
