Dolly Ann (Collins) Brown, age 88, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. She was born on December 22, 1933, in Hempstead, Texas. Dolly attended and met her the love of her life, John Brown, Jr. at San Francisco City College. They were married in San Francisco, California, on May 6, 1955, and were blessed with two children.
Dolly was a wonderful wife, mom and grandmama. She loved God and served Him faithfully, leaving a lasting legacy of faith to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dolly loved her family fiercely and was proud of their accomplishments, achievements and celebrated every milestone. Another one of her loves was music – gospel, contemporary worship, classical and her favorite artist, Johnny Mathis, to name a few. She also enjoyed going to musicals and ballets. Tending to the flowers in her rose garden, as well as creating beautiful images in painting classes were a couple of her hobbies. Because she had been a military wife for over 25 years, she loved to travel. Maui, Manila, The Mall of America in Minnesota and Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York City were some of her favorite places.
But an activity most dear to her heart was her Card Ministry. She loved people, especially those that were hurting. For decades she would send cards filled with encouraging words and scriptures to family, friends and even friends of friends whom she had only heard of by name. Strangers would even approach her in stores and restaurants where she would encourage and pray for them. Selfless, her life shone brightly with the love of Christ.
Dolly is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Berger and her husband, Alton, of Douglasville, Georgia; her son, Kevin Brown and his wife, Georgina, of Lewisville, Texas; her grandchildren, Veronica (Gozie) Onyema, Tylen Brown, Alexander (Annie) Brown, Samantha (William) Fitzsimmons, Nathan Berger, Colin Brown, Madalyn Brown, Matthew (Lori) Fikac, and Michael Fikac; her great-grandchildren, Adair Onyema, Brynn Onyema, Oliver Brown, Levi Fitzsimmons, Channing Onyema, Carter Fikac, Luke Fikac, Josey Fitzsimmons and Lu Fitzsimmons; her siblings, Alva Collins, Kenneth Reed and Arlene Brown-Pryor.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Brown, Jr.; her mom, Glendale Reed; and her siblings, Joseph Reed, Andre Reed and Essie Reed.
Dolly will be laid to rest beside her husband at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service at Oaks Church, 448 N. Custer Road, McKinney, Texas, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Joel Scrivner.
