Mrs. Dixie Ashley, age 57, of Van Alstyne, Texas passed away on February 4, 2004 at her home. She was born on July 6, 1946 to William Raymond and Vannoys Blyth (Caudell) Johnson in McKinney, Texas. On April 16, 1965, she married Larry Ashley in Van Alstyne, Texas. Dixie was a loving wife and mother and was a proud grandmother to three beautiful boys. She was busy enjoying her retirement from Grayson County while acting as a substitute teacher for the Anna I.S.D. Dixie had spent numerous years as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher at Elmont Baptist Church. In 1985 she graduated from University of Texas Dallas with a Bachelors in business management. She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Jill Roper and husband, Joe of Howe, Texas and Marci Taylor and husband, Tim of San Antonio, Texas; grandsons, Nickolas and Tate Taylor and Jacob Roper; sisters, Linda Long of Allen, Texas and Robbie Cook and husband, Rusty of Little Elm, Texas; brother, Phillip Johnson and wife, Lorayne of Arlington, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Her parents preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 7, 2004 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 PM, Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
