IN LOVING MEMORY

Dessie Stephenson Pratt

Dec 18 1922 - Feb 01 2020

Dessie was born to Robert and Lilly Stephenson on December 18, 1922, in the farming community of Soso, Mississippi. After graduating from high school while working for the United States Air Force, Dessie met Lee Benton Pratt who was, in her words, “the only man for me”. They were married for 47 years until his death in 1991.

As well as a devoted wife, she was a loving mother to her children Connie and Dennis and their spouses Hoyte and Anita. Dessie was beloved by her grandchildren Vanessa and Barry, their spouses Tony and Patty, her great grandchildren Molly, Eric, Lauren, Kimberly, Drew and Sydney, and was blessed to live to see the birth of her great-great grandchildren Paige, Brooks, and Penelope.

Dessie had a long and successful career with Chevron Oil, rising to the position of Executive Assistant to a Regional President. She was honored to serve as President of the Desk and Derrick Petroleum Club, pioneering the way for women in the oil and gas industry. The club soon boasted 372 members in Houston, Texas.

After retirement Dessie’s servant’s heart led her to volunteer for 25 years at Plano Medical Center.  Plano became Dessie’s home 28 years ago, after Lee’s death which allowed her to spend quality time with her family. Forging a wide circle of friends, she had an active social life and enjoyed life in general and often remarked how lucky she was in her life. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for 19 years where she grew in her spiritual life. She loved the Lord Jesus.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2020, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
