Derrick Todd Bickel

September 16, 1971 - November 20, 2020

Derrick Todd Bickel of Plano, Texas passed away on November 20, 2020 at the age of 49. He was born on September 16, 1971 to Danny Wayne Bickel and Rosalyn Jean Webb in Marion, Indiana. Derrick graduated from the San Antonio Police Academy. He was a police officer.

Derrick is survived by his sons, Dalton Bickel of Plano, Texas, Garrett Bickel of Plano, and Evan Bickel of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Haley Bickel of Illinois; brothers, Danny Bickel of San Antonio, Texas, Damond Bickel of Lunde, Sweden, Renessa Bickel of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kendall Smith of Irving, Texas and Ross Smith of Irving, Texas; fiance, Amy Ayala Castro of Plano; aunt, Saundra Smithson of Jonesboro, Indiana; uncle, Terry Bickel of Boca Raton, Florida; aunt, Marilyn Bickel of Boca Raton, Florida; fiance’s children, Olivia Castro and Jacob Castro, both of Plano; and his mother, Rosalyn Smith and step-father, Rod Smith of Plano.

He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Wayne Bickel and grandmother, Thelma Webb.

A “come and go” visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, the following are Ridgeview Memorial Parks guidelines. All are invited to attend the Graveside Service, maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.

The Badr family offers their condolences to the Bickel family. I enjoyed working with Derrick during my 10 years at Maxwell Paper. He always made me laugh.
