Derrell Ray Stanley of Leonard, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born on February 6, 1935, to John Emmett Stanley and Ethel Yowell Stanley in Leonard, Texas. Derrell married Birdie Valleck Stanley on February 5, 1994, in Leonard, Texas.
Derrell is a member of the Leonard Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his sheep and cows and having breakfast with his friends at Dairy Queen.
Derrell is survived by his wife, Birdie Stanley, of Leonard, Texas; his daughters, Pam Tedder and husband, Robbie, of Midlothian, Texas, Birdie Nix-Armit and husband, Joseph, of Metairie, Louisiana, Bonnie Salassi and husband, Al, of Destrehan, Louisiana, Tammy Hass and husband, Dale, of Kenner, Louisiana, and Tina Hudgins and husband, Brad, of Kemp, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Page of Leonard, Texas, and JoAnn Armstrong of Leonard, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, John Emmett and Ethel Stanley; brothers, Jack Stanley, John Stanley, and James Stanley; and sisters, Jean Greggory, Betty Brown and Barbara Stanley.
Services for Derrell will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 2 p.m., at Leonard Church of Christ, 323 S US-69, Leonard, Texas 75452. Family will welcome visitors at 12 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2022, at Leonard Church of Christ for a visitation. Following the service, we will go in procession to Grove Hill Cemetery.
