IN LOVING MEMORY

Derek Eugene Stavely

May 13 1968 - Jul 26 2022

Derek Eugene Stavely was born in Garland, Texas, on May 13, 1968. Derek passed on July 26, 2022, surrounded with the love of countless friends and family right up until he passed.

Derek is survived by his three children: Brooke Allison Stavely, Blake Allen Stavely and Bryce Anthony Stavely. He is also survived by his father, Max Stavely; his sisters, Trish and her husband Larry Davis, Sue Winfield and Brenda Backman; brothers, Myron Nichols and John Backman. Derek is preceded in death by his mother, Myrna Brown, and his cherished stepmother, Bonnie Stavely.

To know Derek was to love him. Any acquaintance soon became a friend, of which he had so many. Derek worked his entire career in the car business, having worked in dealerships across the country, but he always landed back in his beloved home state of Texas. He was a natural leader and motivator, and his Saturday morning meetings were legendary. He was a great storyteller, funny and loyal to all. His love of fishing, which he got from his father, was a passion he shared with many others, but above all else, Derek loved his children deeply.

Derek was a dependable, helpful and true friend to so many, with a huge heart and a great smile. But most importantly was all the help and support he gave privately.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas.  The service will be livestreamed at https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/derek-eugene-stavely.  After the service the recorded livestream will be available at the same link location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, if so moved, to please donate to the living trust to assist in the care of Derek’s minor child, Bryce Stavely.
