Dennis W. Shoemaker

Dennis W. Shoemaker of McKinney, Texas passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, March 29, 2020. Dennis was born on March 12, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Roy Lee Shoemaker and Emily Ann (Costello) Shoemaker. He graduated from Sam Houston High School and went on to attend the University of Houston majoring in business. Dennis married Carla Berg on January 27, 1973 in Houston and they moved to Oak Ridge North, Texas in the early 80’s.  Dennis loved to play basketball, golf and in his later years became an avid Poker player.  Dennis was a successful bank consultant for over 40 years.  His family was long time members of Grace Crossing Church of Christ in Conroe, Texas until he and Carla moved to McKinney in 2008 to be near their grandchildren where they attended The Branch Church and Crosspoint Community Church.  Dennis was quite funny and always brought laughter to every room. He loved Elvis Presley, sports, especially the Houston Texans, but above all he loved his family and Jesus. Dennis was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was devoted to his family.  He was a follower of Jesus and never wavered in his faith.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carla Shoemaker of McKinney, Texas; daughters Courtney Alexander of McKinney, Texas and Emily Goff and husband Matt, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Chandler Alexander, Carter Goff, Brooklyn Goff and Adalyn Goff; brother, Elton Shoemaker and wife Susie of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters, Yvonne Dailey of Austin, TX, Amelia Stark of Magnolia, Texas and Ava Courtney of Fort Worth, Texas; sister-in-law Dale Moreland and husband Larry of Midlothian, Texas; and countless nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Emily Shoemaker.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests, 200, will be allowed to attend the Memorial Service.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013, and will also be live streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Facebook page and a recorded video will be available following the funeral service on John's obituary page.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Dennis and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone).
