Dennis Ray Parks

Dennis Ray Parks, 57, of Allen, Texas lost his brave fight against Huntington’s Disease on December 1, 2020.  He was born on October 10, 1963 in Borger, Texas.  Dennis graduated from Plano Senior High School (TX) before enlisting in the United States Army.  He enlisted in 1989 and after training in Fort Dix, New Jersey he was assigned to the 586th Maintenance Company stationed in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, later deploying to Kuwait.  Dennis was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal, three Bronze Stars, the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal along with several expert marksmanship badges.  Dennis returned to Plano and later graduated from the Plano Police Academy.  He proudly served as a Police Officer from 1994 until 2017, when his symptoms from Huntington’s Disease forced him to retire.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Sara Leann (Neumann) Parks;  parents, Deanna Louise (Carpenter) and Gerald Gordon Parks of Plano; brothers, Daniel Paul Parks and wife, Kathy of Lantana, Florida, David Gordon Parks of Plano, Texas and Michael Edward Parks of Frisco, Texas; uncle, Steve Parks and husband, Michael Krauchenko; nieces, Jessica Parks of McKinney, Texas, Ashley Parks of Dania Beach, Florida, Madaleine Parks of Frisco, Texas; and nephews, Jacob Parks of Dania Beach, Florida, Caden Parks and Jack Henry Parks of Frisco, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Opal (Martin) Carpenter and Gordon and Edna (Berg) Parks along with many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins who were taken too soon.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, TX. 

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, only a limited number of guests will be allowed to attend the Memorial Service.

The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com  Dennis’ obituary page by clicking on the following link: Celebrationoflife.tv. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.

However, when the maximum number of guests are reached, those who would like to honor Dennis  and show their support to his family may remain at the funeral home in your vehicle, where you can watch the live streamed service on your personal device (laptop, tablet or smartphone) or listen through a designated FM radio channel.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
