Dennis Ray Jackson, 70, passed away on March 21, 2016, in Farmersville, Texas. Dennis was born to Rayford Jackson and Joan Jackson in Farmersville, Texas on August 10th, 1945. Dennis faithfully served with honor in the United States Marines from 1964 – 1967 and served with distinction in Vietnam at a very young age.
He was married to Linda Miller in 1968 and together they made their home in the burgeoning small town of Plano, TX towards the mid 1970’s. There they had their two beloved children, Kristin and Geoff. As a young man Dennis applied his many talents to various pursuits in the automotive industry. He sold exotic European vehicles with Overseas Motors in Dallas and with other car dealerships throughout the DFW Metroplex. Dennis had several hobbies that included boating, guitars, and even rebuilt a 1940’s era Triumph motorcycle, a project that required industrious research and mechanical skills on his part.
Dennis will be sorely missed for his love and compassion for his family. His enthusiasm for Rock & Roll, Blues Guitar, and Classic Country and Western music was endless. Dennis was generous and kind, he always gave of his time to his children and grandchildren. Most importantly he was a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Dennis loved his country and was dedicated to his service in the United States Marine Corps.
Dennis is survived by his Mother Joan, Sister Dianne & her husband Wade, his ex-wife, Linda; Daughter Kristin & her husband Curry Nichols of McKinney TX, Son Geoff and Wife Paige in Houston, Texas; four grandchildren that he was extremely proud of - Lindsey, Hannah, Taylor and Katie. Dennis was preceded in death by his Father, Rayford. A 12:00 p.m. graveside burial will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmersville, Texas with a family viewing at Hurst’s Fielder Baker Funeral home in Farmersville from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. In honor of Dennis’s dedicated service to his country, please make donations to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Boulevard, #102, PMB 609, Oceanside, California 92057.
