Denise Ann Peña Brown, age 55, of Plano, Texas, passed away September 22, 2007 at her home. She was born September 5, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, to Rudy T. and Frances (Garza) Peña. Denise graduated in 1970 from Providence High School in San Antonio. She earned her B.A. Degree from St. Mary’s and her Master’s Degree from UTSA. She worked for the San Antonio ISD, Dallas ISD, Richardson ISD and was the Coordinator of ESL Bilingual Studies at Frisco ISD. On November 17, 1983, she married Carey J. Brown at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in San Antonio. They lived in Dallas and moved to Plano, Texas in 1989, where they made their home with their two sons. Denise ran in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure eight years in a row. She is survived by her husband, Carey; sons, Zachary and Braden Brown; mother, Frances G. Peña; brothers, Dennis E. Peña and Martin R. Peña; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews; and other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Deacon Rudy T. Peña; and brother, Mark Allen Peña, Sr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Zachary & Braden Brown College Trust Fund at North Dallas Bank and Trust and to the American Cancer Society.
