Delbert James "Jim" McFarland

Delbert James McFarland, 57, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on October 9, 2016 in Carrollton, Texas. He was the loving husband of Deborah Kay McFarland for 25 years.

He was born in Colorado City, Texas to Delbert Herman and Betty Jean McFarland.

He received an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force on December 20, 1992 after serving 4 years active and 4 years inactive.

Part of his legacy includes his mission work with Every Orphan’s Hope in which he traveled to Zambia, Africa where he worked with a team to build an orphanage for children who lost both parents to AIDS.

He was a man of many hobbies, including road trips, blues and bluegrass music, and shooting targets at the gun range. He also loved animals, and had a special place in his heart for all of his dogs.

He is survived by his wife Deborah McFarland, his three daughters Shanna McFarland, Misty Lowe and Kristi Czarnecki, his mother Betty McFarland, and three sisters Donna Lofton, Linda Powell, and Mary Miller.

He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert H. McFarland.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 8520 Main Street, Frisco, Texas on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM.

A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service.   

A cremation will follow the service, and family and friends are welcomed to join in the scattering of the ashes in Lost Maples Natural State Park on March 13, 2017.
