It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Debra Anne Davis, age 69, on October 28, 2024. Surrounded by her loving family, she departed peacefully at her home in McKinney, Texas, after bravely battling pancreatic cancer.
Born on July 23, 1955, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Deb was the cherished daughter of Travis and Doris Irby. She enjoyed her childhood in the vibrant desert of New Mexico before the family relocated to Baytown, Texas when Deb was a teenager. It was in Baytown where she met her future husband, Brian Davis, in a college chemistry class at the age of 19. They married in 1977 and built a wonderful life together in Baytown before retiring to McKinney, Texas.
Deb was a devoted mother to her two children, Kim (Chad) Rader and Lance (Samantha) Davis, and a proud grandmother to three grandchildren—Emily, Charlotte and Quinn—who affectionately called her “Nana”. Her early passion for sewing and quilting blossomed in retirement, as she created countless quilts that will forever wrap her family in love.
Deb is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Don Irby. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, her children, her grandchildren, her sister, Denise Moore, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Deb will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched and the many quilts she leaves behind.
A celebration of Deb’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Deb’s memory to the Heard Natural Science Museum or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
