IN LOVING MEMORY

Deborah Lorene Scott Cantrell Corley

Jun 18 1953 - Jun 17 2017

Deborah Lorene (Scott Cantrell) Corley of Dallas, Texas, passed away June 17, 2017, at age 63. She was born June 18, 1953, to Alvin Edward Scott and Billie N. Turner in Freeport, Texas. Deborah married Hal Ray Corley on January 20, 1980, in Garland, Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1983 and worked for the Social Security Administration in payroll benefits for nearly 30 years.

She was a voracious reader and an avid movie fan. She and Hal made movies a regular part of their weekend routine for many years. At home, she often could be found in the living room with a book in her hand. She loved to play cards and dominoes and spent many evenings in raucous card games with family members. She also loved to travel, visiting family and friends around the country and spending time at her favorite destination: Bar Harbor, Maine.

She enjoyed spoiling her four grandsons at every opportunity. She was skilled at various crafts, sewing blankets and crocheting afghans for family members and friends when she had the time, then making scrapbooks after she retired. She had a sharp wit and a good sense of humor, and there was no doubt about her love for her family. She was a member of Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

Deborah is survived by her son, Jeremy Corley, and his wife, Krista, of Dallas; her daughter, Stephanie Corley Dowlen, and her husband, Scott, of Midland, Texas; her father, Edward Scott of Angleton, Texas; her mother, Billie Russell of Garland; four grandchildren, Samuel Dowlen, Sawyer Dowlen, Aidan Corley and Alexander Corley; two brothers, Henry Cantrell and his wife, Carrie, of Clute, Texas, and Mike Cantrell and his wife, Lorrie, of Garland; a sister, Dawna Cantrell Taylor, and her husband, Ron, of Murphy, Texas; two aunts, Peggy J. Henderson of Rockwall, Texas, and Darlene Northam and her husband, Bobby, of Lake Jackson, Texas; an uncle, Gary L. Turner, and his wife, Sandra, of Sulphur Springs, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Ray Corley; and the father who raised her, Henry L. Cantrell.

A funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2017, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”  Revelation 21:4
