IN LOVING MEMORY

Deborah Dee Pitts

Mar 27 1947 - Feb 18 2019

Deborah (Debbie) Dee Pitts, 71, a long-time resident of Plano, passed away on February 18, 2019 at Faith Presbyterian Hospice after a long battle with dementia.

She was born on March 27, 1947 to Kenneth Edward and Loretta (Strouse) Mason in Columbus, Ohio. Debbie grew up in the close knit community of Blacklick. She attended Lincoln High School in nearby Gahanna, where she was well liked and regularly chosen as a member of the prom and homecoming courts. She was also a member of the Majorettes baton twirling team and track team. During her high school years, Debbie was also named Miss Ohio Teen USA.

She attended college, married and relocated to Houston, Texas. Debbie had two daughters and began a career as an interior decorator. She absolutely loved doing it and enjoyed a long and successful career. Later, she also added real estate agent to her resume.

Debbie greeted everyone with a warm smile that lit up the room. Those who knew her often described her as one of the nicest and most caring people around. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, creating new in-home design looks and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also attended Grace Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in community ministries and weekly bible study groups. But perhaps one of her favorite things was getting a vanilla ice cream cone from McDonalds.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Terry Pitts of Plano; brother, Dan Mason of Xenia, Ohio; daughters, Betsy Elder and Julie Elder Shehane, both of Dallas; grandchildren, Maximillian (Jody) Wall, Sean (Estrella) Shehane, Ryan Shehane and Kacie Shehane; great-granddaughter, Isabella; many nieces and nephews; also step-daughters, Kelly Pitts of Plano, Lesly Pitts Goodwyn and husband, Jason of Frisco; and step-granddaughters, Lucy, Alice and Grace Goodwyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Edward Mason and Mary Loretta (Strouse) Mason; brothers, Robert (Judy) Mason and Scott (Joni Conley) Mason; and sister, Kendra Cecil, all of whom lived in Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 4300 West Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093.

Memorial gifts may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 4300 West Park Blvd, Plano, Texas 75093.
