IN LOVING MEMORY

Debbie Rankin Sears

Jan 24 1975 - Mar 07 2022

Debbie Rankin Sears of McKinney, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2022, at the age of 47.  She was born to David Alan and Janet Susan (Duce) Price in England. Debbie married Philip Clyde Sears on May 31, 2008, in Allen, Texas. She worked at Raytheon for 14 years as a brilliant aerospace engineer and manager, culminating in the role as a Technical Fellow.

She received an Engineering - Aircraft Structures degree at the University of Lincolnshire & Humberside and a Masters of System Engineering at Southern Methodist University. Debbie was an active member in the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of SAMPE.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Phil Sears of McKinney, Texas; sons, Alex Sears and wife, Jessica of Lewisville, Texas and Austin Sears of Austin, Texas; grandson, Austin Sears; brother, Steve Duce and wife, Cath of England; sister, Cathy Price of England; niece, Millie Price; nephew, Leo Price; and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Price.

Debbie brought light into the world through a kind and generous heart. She deeply loved her family, friends, and pets and treasured her time with them. She was a fixture at infamous Garnet Way card nights and the coordinator of several fun-filled neighborhood weekend jaunts around Texas and Oklahoma.

She loved adventure and travel. She enjoyed sailing with her husband, bouncing around Caribbean islands and enjoying warm sunny days as would any ex-Brit. Though she was an English ex-pat and became an official American citizen in 2007, she could never forgo her love of Indian food or Manchester United (Glory, Glory Man United!).

Debbie had a green thumb and enjoyed her gardening, sharing the results with friends and neighbors with unexpected deliveries of flowers or spices. Her gifts spanned great technical aptitude to creating beautiful art. She was bright, witty, and funny that was further amplified, of course, with that British accent.

In the best of times, she was a shining star in her work, the lives of friends and family, and the love that she brought into the world. For that, she will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.

While the lives she’s left behind are diminished with her passing, there is comfort in knowing that she’s reunited with her dog Abby, her cat Vader, her mother Janet and her dear grandmother Lily. She’s in peace now and in the best of company.
