IN LOVING MEMORY

David Wilson Sailors

Apr 09 1947 - Jan 25 2021

David Wilson Sailors, 73, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on January 25th, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with heart complications.

David was born on April 9th, 1947 to Vernon and Ruth Sailors in Cape Girardeau, MO.  David spent his early years growing up in Paducah, Kentucky.  David was an overcomer, as he lost his mother when he was only 8 years old and his older brother and hero, Charles Sailors, when he was 26 years of age.

David enlisted himself in the Army in 1964 and somehow joined at the age of 17 years old.  David honorably served his country as an Army Ranger during the Vietnam War and he spent many missions in combat as a paratrooper helping his fellow soldiers in the thick of battle.  He was a very proud Veteran!

David was an incredible salesman and spent many years in truck sales management. He loved automobiles and people which allowed him to thrive at building relationships. He was very well respected during his career and was often awarded for his many outstanding achievements.

Later in life, David met the true love of his life, Sandra Link Sailors, and they were wed on December 6th, 1997. David was so proud and kind to his stepson, Chris Lawson, and stepdaughter, Karris Littlepage.  He loved them as if they were his own children from the very first day, and the feeling was mutual.  David was a fun-loving grandfather or “BaBa” as he was lovingly called by his five grandchildren and all their friends. He doted over them constantly and nothing gave him greater joy than watching them in their sports and activities. He was one of their loudest cheerleaders!

David lived a selfless life, constantly helping and placing other people’s needs above his own.  He loved all people and never met a stranger.  He was blessed with incredible communication skills and never shied away from talking and telling stories…even if you were not listening or had heard it multiple times.

David enjoyed many hobbies and passions in his life, including car racing, dog training, fishing tournaments, boating, amateur boxing, reading about history and most importantly his love for Jesus Christ, as his Lord and Savior.  David spoke often of his blessings and faith and knew exactly where he would be living for eternity after passing from this life.

David was predeceased by his father, Vernon Sailors, his mother, Ruth Sailors, and his brother, Charles Sailors. He is survived by his wife Sandra Link Sailors; niece Janey Sailors Radford and family, son Christopher Lawson and wife Kendra Lawson; daughter, Karris Littlepage and husband Cory Littlepage; and his five grandchildren: Zac Lawson, Ella Lawson, Reese Littlepage, Brooke Littlepage and Allie Littlepage.
