David Thomas Draughon Sr, age 63, of The Colony, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020, in Carrollton, Texas. He was born on June 2, 1956, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Sara Louise (Patterson) Taylor. David married the love of his life, Mary Lou Moreland, in Chanute, Illinois, on July 8, 1975, and they were blessed with three children. He was a graduate of McAlester High School Class of 1974, proudly served in the United States Air Force, and worked as a meat market manager and butcher in the grocery business for 35 years.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Draughon; three children, David Thomas Draughon Jr of The Colony, Texas, Bridget Louise Thompson of The Colony, Texas, and Charles Daniel “Danny” Draughon of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Shealyn Nicole Thompson, Brendan Jeffrey Thompson, Mason Richard Thompson, and Lauren Alexis Thompson; sister, Janet Ann Taylor of Anna, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Louise (Patterson) Taylor and his sister, Dawna Lynelle (Draughon) Stuckey.
The family invites friends to a visitation at Berkshire Chapel, 9073 Berkshire Drive, Frisco, Texas, on Thursday, March 5, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held here on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Ray Wilkins. Interment will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, at 1:00 p.m.
