David Milton Scott of McKinney, Texas passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 70. He was born on July 20, 1954, in Houston, Texas, to John Milton and Mildred Irene (LeBlanc) Scott.
David was a proud graduate of Memorial High School in Houston and went on to earn his degree from the University of Texas. He spent many years as a resident of Austin, Texas.
David married Joni Wheeless in Houston, Texas on July 12, 1980. They made their home in Austin, Texas where their daughter Allison was born. In January 2020 they moved to McKinney, Texas. David’s career as a business consultant, business analyst, and instructor spanned over 40 years in various enterprises including state government, community college, the high-tech industry, and retail. As a personal computing instructor at Austin Community College, he led more than 4100 hours of classroom training to over 3800 adult students in more than 500 classes.
David was very interested in researching his family ancestry. He was able to trace his Scott family back to Canada and Scotland. He became a board member of the non-profit organization Clan Scott Society, Inc. He served as membership secretary for this organization for almost 40 years. He was instrumental in bringing the administration of the organization into 20th & 21st century technology by streamlining the membership applications and renewals, setting up the website, and administering the social media sites for the organization. During this time David was also able to use his excellent writing skills to author quarterly newsletter articles as well as edit and supervise the layout of the newsletter.
David is survived by his wife, Joni Scott of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Allison Savoy and husband, Matthew of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Ian Savoy; sister, Janet Harp and husband, Jeff of Cupertino, California; nieces, Stacy Harp of Los Altos, California and Karen Harp of San Diego, California; and 1 great niece and 3 great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
