David L. Merritt, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2020 of complications of cancer treatments at the age of 74.
Dave graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Accounting and then received his Certified Public Accounting license in 1973. He worked for a “Big 8” firm for a few years before starting his own CPA firm. He retired in 2014 after 45 years of practicing.
Dave loved spending time with his family, fishing, boating on Lake Travis for many years and Lake Lewisville. His greatest love was Golf and he was able to say “I made a Hole-In-One”. He was a member of the Houston Golf Association for many years and went on to be Vice-Chair for 2 years and then General Chairman for 2 years of the Shell Houston Open. He spent his life serving his church, the YMCA and Rotary Clubs but he felt his biggest accomplishment was raising two wonderful daughters and his grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Robert Merritt and beloved family members and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Judy; children, Kelly Hubert of Richmond, Tx and her husband Kyle, Kerri Jackson of Lewisville, Tx and her husband Scott; grandchildren, Hannah, Sydney, Tyler, Brady and Avery; his brothers, Scott Merritt of Lansing, Mi and his wife Barb, and Tom Merritt of Detroit, Mi area and his wife Cathy.
A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, 11:00 AM at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Frisco, Tx with interment to follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life will be held when we can all gather together safely to celebrate Dave’s life.
