July 17, 1946 - July 24, 2020

David L. Merritt, of Frisco, Texas, passed  away on July 24, 2020 of complications of cancer treatments at the age of 74.

Dave graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in Accounting and then received his Certified Public Accounting license in 1973.  He worked for a “Big 8” firm for a few years before starting his own CPA firm.  He retired in 2014 after 45 years of practicing.

John & I are so sorry for your loss. Gloria Billingsley, August 5, 2020 David has been my friend since 1982 when I became the director of the Cypress Creek YMCA of Houston. He was an active member of the Board of Directors and we worked closely together for many years. He was the Board Chairman during a time of huge growth in the YMCA and the Tomball/ Cypress Creek/1960 area communities when Compaq Computer Corporation moved in next door. David and Judy represented the Y in an international exchange with the Minas Gerias YMCA of Brazil. We went on the 3-week trip with them and others. It was the first of many fun times together. David was a dedicated family man, at true American, and a wonderful friend. Elaine and I will miss his presence and will forever hold him and Judy in our hearts. Dale and Elaine Walters, August 1, 2020 Dave was a man of character and compassion. I will miss his friendship and laughter. Bob Remenar, August 1, 2020 Judy and Family, we were so sorry to hear of Dave's passing and may he rest in peace. He and you were so supportive of the HGA and the King of Swing Charities during the time you all were here in the Houston area. I first met Dave when Joan and I were Make A Wish volunteers and worked with him and Bob Schumacher at one of the Hospitality venues in 2001. After I joined the HGA, we worked together on Jr. Golf and various HGA Hospitality venues. He was always willing to pitch in and do whatever was asked. I enjoyed the time working with him and appreciated his support. as well as yours. He will be missed by all those who knew him. God Bless!
