David L. Chumley

David Louis Chumley of Wylie, Texas passed away on February 4, 2021 at the age of 64. He was born on July 31, 1956 to Roy Lee and Ruby Elizabeth (Lambert) Chumley in Dallas, Texas.  David graduated from Garland High School in 1974.  In David’s younger years he enjoyed the rodeo, even riding bulls.  He went to the Texas State High School finals as a bull rider.  David was active in the FFA of Garland showed dairy cows.  After graduating, he worked as a mechanic for Caterpillar.  A friend got him a job as an electrician at a young age and he was an electrician for most of his life.  David married Sharon Claytor on July 2, 1996 in Collin County.  He always enjoyed going fishing at any local lake or pond.  David loved his family and friends, as well as two cats who he loved and cherished.

He is survived by his son, David Louis Chumley, Jr. of Wills Point, Texas; granddaughters, Adriana and Addison Chumley of Wills Point, Texas; sister, Elizabeth C. Chumley-Smith of Garland, Texas; brother, Wayne Chumley and wife, Joan of Wylie, Texas; two nieces; and numerous other loving family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon and parents.

A “come and go” visitation on Monday, February 8, 2021, throughout the day starting at 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.  Only a limited number of guests will be allowed to enter the funeral home facility at any one time to maintain social distancing.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Ridgeview Memorial Park at the Garden Pavilion, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.

In support of our local, state, and federal govt including CDC directives and to protect the physical health, safety and well-being of our community, the following are Ridgeview Memorial Parks guidelines. All are invited to attend the Graveside Service, maintaining social distancing or you may remain in your vehicle. You will be able to listen to the service through speakers set up at the gravesite.
