David Ross Hemmeline, 59, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, in Grapevine, Texas. He is survived by his wife Kerri Ann Hooker Hemmeline and sons Austin and Presley Hemmeline.
David was an exceptional husband, father, a gifted artist and musician, and a world class disc golf player. He touched so many people with his ability to see and express the beauty and art of any environment. David was especially passionate about his family and their pets.
David was born October 11, 1964, in Fort Stockton, Texas to his parents Royce Hemmeline and Jewell Dean Harmonson Hemmeline. David grew up in West Texas. His artistic talents were evident from early childhood, and he always excelled in sports. He graduated from Denver City High School in 1983. David had opportunities to play college football, but eventually, and with encouragement from his parents realized his true calling was music and art. David taught himself guitar. He became a talented musician and songwriter and performed for several years in the San Angelo and Austin music scenes. He also completed his formal education at San Angelo State University and Austin Community College, earning his art degree. David reconnected with a beautiful and smart girl from their high school days, Kerri Hooker. David and Kerri married on February 14, 1998, in Arizona. David continued to pursue his artistic and musical passions as they raised a family and moved around the country to take advantage of Kerri’s career opportunities that eventually led them back to Texas.
David was a super father, sports coach, mentor and friend to Austin and Presley. David applied his artistic skills to support the family with commissioned paintings, murals and special wall and ceiling finishes. David was very generous, donating his time and talents to create artwork for fundraising for many charitable causes. David taught himself to play ukulele. David continued to show his athletic prowess. He took up disc golf and became one of the top pros in the country. Wherever he was, whatever he did, David had a positive impact on everyone.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janda Hemmeline.
David is also survived by three brothers: Stan Hemmeline and his wife Miriam of Frisco, Texas, Mark Hemmeline and his wife Dawn of Carrollton, Texas and Dale Hemmeline of Kingsland, Texas, and one sister: Charla Snethen of Dallas, Texas. David is also survived by 6 nieces and 7 nephews.
There will be no formal funeral service. Instead, a private viewing for the immediate family will be held. To honor and celebrate David’s life, an informal Celebration of Life will be held for all friends and family on Saturday, June 22, 2024, come and go from 2 pm to 5 pm at New City Presbyterian Church, 601 S.
