IN LOVING MEMORY

David Dumont Paulson

Aug 14 1935 - Mar 23 2018

With loving family at his side, David Dumont Paulson, age 82, of Frisco, Texas passed away on March 23, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 14, 1935 to Ellen Mae (Sandstrom) and Alfred Magnus Paulson in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. On February 18, 1961, David was united in marriage to Peggy Jane Stark in Austin, Minnesota. David was a 1957 graduate of the University of South Dakota, where he ran track, played on the basketball team and was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After graduating, he served in the United States Army, and then enjoyed a 36-year career at 3M. David and Peggy raised their family in Houston, Texas, and resided there for 45 years.

Known to his friends as Dave, he was a master story teller with an uncanny ability to recall specific details as far back as childhood.  He was quick with a smile and a kind word.  Ever the optimist, he could put a positive spin on any situation.

Dave was an accomplished athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast. He was a voracious reader and follower of current events. An armchair political pundit and sports commentator, he relished bantering over the news of the day. Dave loved being outdoors and especially cherished his time in the Colorado mountains while in the Army, on business trips and family vacations.

David is survived by his wife, Peggy Paulson; three children, Mark Paulson, Heather Smercina, her husband Tony, and Steven Paulson; two grandchildren, Hagan and Adhelin Paulson; sister, Kathleen Kieffer.

David is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Service will be held at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX, on Thursday, March 29, 2018 beginning at 3:15 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held in White Bear Lake, MN in April.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
