David Cleveland Blakeley of Plano, Texas, peacefully passed away on October 23, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born on February 21, 1931, to James Louis Blakeley and Violet Mae (Vickrey) Blakeley in Penwell, Texas.
David was an accomplished individual, starting his educational journey in the Dallas Independent School District. He continued his undergraduate studies at both the University of Arkansas and the University of Oklahoma, earning a bachelor's degree. His passion for education led him to further his academic pursuits, and he obtained a master's degree from the University of Southern California.
David proudly served in the United States Army. His unwavering dedication to his country measured an esteemed 38 years of his life, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before his retirement. Alongside serving his nation, he shared his knowledge and expertise by teaching ROTC for 15 years in the Dallas School District, molding and inspiring future servicemen.
David's commitment to serving others extended beyond his military career. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy of loyalty, integrity, and dedication to his country. David was a loving father and cherished friend. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his son, Mark Edward Blakeley of Florida; daughter, Cynthia J. Walsh of New Hampshire; cherished friend, Steve Bilobran of Garland, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
David will be inurned with military honors at 2:15 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
