David "Sandy" Baxter

December 4, 1937 - August 16, 2010

David “Sandy” Baxter, age 72, of Prosper, Texas passed away on August 16, 2010. He was born on December 4, 1937 in McKinney, Texas, to James Floyd and Rosalie (Griffin) Baxter. Sandy was a 1956 graduate from McKinney High School. He married Margo Sue Cowan on March 31, 1961 in Prosper. Sandy retired from Garland Power and Light. After retirement he took care of his cattle and raised hay. He was a member of Prosper Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and song leader. Sandy is survived by his wife, Margo of Prosper; daughter, Melody Banner and husband Danny of Prosper; son, David “Burr” Baxter of Prosper; grandchildren, Sharla Sue Baxter and Macy Banner; brothers, Kenneth Baxter and wife Mary of Weston, TX, Paul Baxter and wife Melba of Prosper; and sister, Lillian Burns of Pleasant Grove, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren, David Eli Baxter, Daniel Lucas Banner, and Deanna Rhea Banner. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Prosper Presbyterian Church, 400 S. Coleman, Prosper, TX, officiated by Pastor Dawson Tunnell and Pastor John Fowler. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper. Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Allen, at their convenience to pay their respects and to sign the register book on Wednesday. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
