David B. Johnson

November 17, 1953 - March 7, 2018

David Burl Johnson, age 64, of The Colony Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018.  He was born November 17, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Shelby “Pete” and Cheryl Yvonne (Good) Johnson. David married the love of his life, Debbie Kaye Sheehey, on July 23, 1983, in Des Moines Iowa.

David proudly served his country in the Navy.  He was also a very talented welder, and made amazing artistic creations.  He never met a stranger, and was a devoted friend to all he met.  A faithful servant, there was nothing he wouldn’t do to help another.  His love of music spanned decades and genres, he also enjoyed sharing new finds with friends and family.  He always knew how to make you smile.  He was the most amazing and loving husband, father, and Papa.  He adored his grandsons.  He was a very loved man who touched so many lives; he is truly missed by all.

David is survived by his wife, Debbie Johnson; his children, Lisa Pruitt and her husband, Chris, Jessica Jones and her husband, Brandon, and David Joseph Johnson; his grandchildren, Brandon Jones and Jacob Mattler; his siblings, Shelby Johnson, George W. Johnson, and Merlin “Merv” Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Cheryl Johnson.

A visitation is planned at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

I have fond memories of us playing cowboys and Indians as we were growing up. Regret there was so many miles and little money to stay in touch through the years.
