David Brent Granlund was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 8, 1968, and died September 9, 2017. He was the fourth child of Hamilton and Carol Granlund. David enjoyed sports, especially football, and by 6 years old he was an encyclopedia of football knowledge.
He moved to Dallas, Texas in 1975 along with his family and became a true "Texan". David was a good student and natural leader. He was active in his church, King of Glory Lutheran Church. David went to Texas Lutheran College and transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He then went on to the University of Houston Law Center and graduated with a law degree.
David married Anna Kerby on August 12, 2000. He was an avid UT College football fan and had an extensive memorabilia collection. He enjoyed music and had a wide range of tastes.
David began his career working as a lawyer in Dallas, eventually working for Nortel for 12 years. He did independent legal contracting work most recently. He was a hard worker and was well respected and liked by his co-workers.
David is survived by his mother, Carol; sister, Lynn and niece Josie; sister, Tami and brother-in-law Earl. David had a very special relationship with his niece, Josie, who was the "apple of his eye" and she adored him just as much.
He is preceded in death by his father, Hamilton; and brother, Michael.
He will be greatly missed by us all. David is in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten. A Memorial Service will held at Church of the Transfiguration, Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 4:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held following the Memorial Service at 7153 St. Augustine Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeLamere, North Dakota.
