David Allan Conrad, age 87, of Horseshoe Bay, TX passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2021. He is reunited with wives Ruth and Janis, son Steve, and other beloved family members. Those of us left are confident they are raising a glass to us together.
Dave was born and raised in St Louis, MO where among accomplishments was on the wrestling team for Maplewood High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Augusta, Georgia. After, he returned to St. Louis and was a successful lumber salesman throughout his career.
He was an avid and competitive golfer, loved to sing and dance, could tell a story that would make your sides hurt, and without a doubt loved his family through and through. Dave didn’t know a stranger, and could work a room without prompting. He was tagged with several nicknames along the way, including Super Dave, Fast Dave, Doc, Capitan and Skippy – which all came from love and humor of what he meant and did for others.
Dave loved to explore new places, and often relocated to his new “favorite spot” – including Joplin, Mo; Rancho Mirage, CA; Horseshoe Bay, TX; The Villages, FL; Chesterfield, MO; and ultimately back to Horseshoe Bay. Wherever Dave went he made friends and memories.
Dave spent time recently with his friend Lois Springer, splitting time between their homes in Horseshoe Bay and Frisco TX.
Beloved father of Susan (Richard) Hassett of Yakima, WA; Kevin Conrad of Horseshoe Bay, TX; step-children Carolyn (Jim) Watson of Plano, TX; Roger (Jackie) Beckermann of North Richland Hills, TX; loving grandfather to Stephanie (Jason) Sentell, Jerrica Conrad; Amy (Ryan) Kost, Nikolas Tyson; Peter (Chelsea), Tyler (fiancée Jordan), and David Conrad; Amy Wills, Eric Falkensten; Andrew and Jared Stahel; Sunny and Cy Beckermann. Dearest Father-in- Law to Sharon Haight of Joplin, MO; and Vicki Conrad of St. Louis, MO. Great-grandfather to Conrad Sentell. Dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
We take heart in knowing Dave lived life according to his favorite song, and did it “My Way”.
Celebration of Life will be at his home in Horseshoe Bay, TX Saturday, April 3rd.
