Danny Lee Stewart of McKinney, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 2, 2021 at the age of 68.  Danny was surrounded by family as his long battle with ALS came to a close.

Danny was born in Dallas, Texas on November 24, 1952. He was a 1971 graduate of Princeton High School in Princeton, Texas. During his years in high school, he played on the football team in the fall and worked on Fay and Frankie Hardin’s farm picking okra, cantaloupes, beans, and hauled hay for many neighbors. It was on the farm where Danny met the love of his life, Diane Hardin, daughter of Fay and Frankie Hardin of McKinney, Texas. It was love at first sight. Danny applied for the job on the farm and never left.

Danny worked for General Telephone Company for 30 years before retiring. During his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and many pets.  Danny’s favorite activities included anything that involved spending time with his family. He coached the kids’ soccer teams for many years and a Pee Wee football team.

Danny has been a member and a deacon of East Fork Baptist Church, King Memorial Baptist Church and Waddill Street Baptist Church. He also taught Sunday School classes for many years.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 51 years, Diane Hardin Stewart of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Johnston of Phoenix, Arizona; son, Daniel Stewart and his wife, Sara Stewart, whom he loved as his daughter, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Haley Yeager of Phoenix, Arizona; Matthew Stewart of McKinney, Texas; Heidi Stewart of Garland, Texas; Alex Cortez of San Antonio, Texas; Danny Cortez of Austin, Texas; Paula Cortez of McKinney, Texas and Jennifer Cortez of Frisco, Texas; brothers, Mike and wife, Nelda Stewart of Greenville, Texas, Tommy Stewart and Amy of Princeton, Texas, David Stewart and wife Rita of Princeton, Texas; brother-in-law, John Hardin and wife, Lucretia of Princeton, Texas; many nieces and nephews, friends, and dog, Coco were all touched by Danny’s life and courageous battle with ALS.

Danny was preceded in death by his father, Harlon Royce Stewart and mother, Billie Nadine Stewart of Princeton, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2021 at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.

The family will receive friends during a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00, Monday afternoon prior to the graveside service at Turrentine- Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
