Daniel Thomas LeDane was born January 2, 1931 to Thomas Hill LeDane and Susan Matilda Miller LeDane in Huntsdale, Pennsylvania. He passed away April 3, 2020 at his home in Whitewright, Texas surrounded by family. He was 89.
Dan proudly served his nation in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and took great pride in his legacy as a SeaBee (We Build, We Fight). After retiring from the Navy, he worked as security detail for an armored transport in Las Vegas. Upon moving to Texas in 1972, he worked many years with ConTel telephone company which later merged with Verizon.
Dan was a 32nd degree Master Mason and a longtime member of the Whitewright Masonic Lodge #167 AF&AM. He was a longtime member of the Baptist faith and was a member of North Park Baptist Church, Sherman, Texas.
Dan married Betty Lou Lewis and together they had a daughter, Terry Lynn. He tragically lost Betty and his beloved daughter when a naval fighter jet crashed into their home. He later married Verna Faye Morris on July 27, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He and Faye raised five children and together created a happy, wonderful life and a loving Christian home.
While raising their family, Dan and Faye were very active in their church youth group; they also spent many, many years supporting their children in all their educational and athletic activities. There was never a function that Dan missed. In their later years, Dan and Faye raised miniature horses and enjoyed traveling the country to attend/show in various horse shows and conventions. In their retirement years, they returned often to Las Vegas to visit close family that he loved dearly.
Dan had a deep love and respect for his country that he fought for and served, as well as for his fellow brothers and sisters in the military. He was a Navy Man to his core and talked often of his time in the military and of the great men and women that sacrifice(d) so much for their country, often with tears in his eyes. Dan's greatest passion, however, was his family, whom he dearly loved. He was their Godly leader, tireless provider, and staunchest supporter. No one ever doubted how Dan felt about his family, nor the lengths he would go to love and protect them. Though fondly referred to as "Grumpy," Dan had a heart of (molten) gold and a quick, sarcastic sense of humor. He was the epitome of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was deeply loved by his family and many friends and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Faye LeDane of Whitewright; daughter, Cindy Osborne and husband Charles of Whitewright; sons, William LeDane and wife Teresa of Luella, Andrew LeDane and wife Jeannie of Tom Bean, Scott LeDane and wife Holly of Valley View; daughter, Danielle Kennemur of Whitewright; grandchildren, Chris, Cara & Jeff, Cody & Bridgette, Amanda & Corby, Brad, Jordan, Katelyn & Brandon, Ashlyn & Sean, Logan, Shacy & Colt, Karli & Justin, Dylan & Tessa, Rachel, Heather & Brennan, and Caleb; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou; daughter, Terry Lynn; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jeremy; parents; 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
But those that hope in the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
