Rev. Daniel Southern, age 64, of Allen, Texas, passed away December 1, 2017. He was born March 30, 1953 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Robert Schmunk and Elizabeth Southern. On September 10, 1982, Daniel married Lori Lynn Erb in Dearborn, Michigan. He was a member of Frisco Bible Church. Daniel grew up in Michigan and graduated from Taylor University with a bachelor degree in philosophy and Biblical literature. He worked for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for nearly twenty years, where he directed U.S. and International crusades and was instrumental in directing the largest crusade in the United States in New York City in 1991. He was President of the American Tract Society until 2007. Since then, Daniel has consulted for various Christian ministries. His main passion in life was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he came in contact with.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Southern of Allen, Texas; children, Robert Adam Southern and wife Jessica of Livonia, Michigan, Tyler Lynn Ebel and husband Lucas of Aylett, Virginia; brother Rev. Philip P. Schmunk and wife Donna of Venice Beach, Florida; cousin, Nate Cummins and wife Cindy of Orlando, Florida; a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Frisco Bible Church, 8000 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033.
