Daniel Leroy Grogan

Daniel Leroy Grogan, age 84, of Frisco, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019.  He was born June 23, 1934, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Amy (Gilbertson) and Edward Grogan.  Dan married the love of his life, Joyce Schroder, on December 22, 1962, in Sacramento, California. 

Dan graduated from Clover Park High School in Tacoma, Washington, where he was a multi-sport athlete and a nationally ranked miler.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.  He also held a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from The University of Southern California.  He had a successful, 30 year, career in the United States Air Force and retired as a Colonel in 1988.  During his retirement years, Dan loved playing golf, traveling and spending time with his friends and family.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Grogan; his daughters, Tara Bland and her husband, Kevin, of Frisco, Texas, and Lisa Grogan of Salt Lake City, Utah; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Bland and Ian Bland; his sister, Elaine Krey of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his brothers, Earle Grogan and Merle Grogan, both of Sequim, Washington and Charlie Grogan of Silverton, Oregon; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Manley Grogan, Wesley Grogan, Patrick Grogan, Phyllis Ruggiero, Duane Grogan, Edward Grogan, Jimmy Grogan, Shirleen Seeton and Ellen West.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, in the Ballroom at Watermere Frisco, 4220 Cotton Gin Road, Frisco, Texas, at 3:00 pm.
