Daniel Joseph Mazurek passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 88. He was born on January 19, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph Roman Mazurek and Helen Katherine Lepper.
Daniel grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated from St. Rita High School in 1956. He went on to build a successful career as a computer analyst and programmer, working with companies such as Prudential and McDonald’s, and later as a consultant for various organizations. On October 3, 1959, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Jankowski. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith. Daniel was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas.
An avid golfer, Daniel found great joy on the course, but nothing meant more to him than spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Mazurek of Allen, Texas; his daughters, Teri Henry and husband Mark of Frisco, Texas, Pat Purcell and husband Dean of Fairview, Texas, Cheryl Jackson and husband Dan of Denton, Texas, and Laura Mallett and husband Kenny of Spring, Texas; his grandchildren, Michael Henry and wife Carrie, Jason Henry and wife Heather, Michelle Peiffer and husband Matt, Kristen Anderson and husband Jake, Melissa Jackson, Rachel Jackson, and Megan Walden; his great-grandchildren, Lily Henry, Anna Henry, Eli Henry, Owen Henry, Ellie Henry, and Emilia Anderson; and his sister, Claudette Klinkerman of Naples, Florida and her husband Steve; along with several nieces, nephews, and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Roman Mazurek and Helen Katherine Lepper, and his sister, Connie Bara.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel’s honor to Grand Brook Memory Care of McKinney’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Grand Brook Memory Care of McKinney and Anchor of Hope Hospice for the extraordinary care they provided to Daniel these past few months. They were more than just caregivers—they provided compassion and support to our entire family, for which we will always be grateful.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Plano, Texas. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013 following the service.
