Damon Sean Erpelding, age 45, of Little Elm, Texas passed away on December 25, 2018 after a courageous battle with stage 4 stomach cancer. He was born on August 11, 1973 to Raymond P. and Helen V. (Young) Erpelding in Des Moines, Iowa. Damon started banking in high school with his father. He followed in his father’s footsteps and graduated in 1997 from UTSA with an accounting degree. Damon married Christy Chastain on October 12, 2002 in Marshall, Texas. He had his certification in anti-money laundering and currently was employed at Charles Schwab and Co., Inc. as the Training Managing Director of Financial Crimes Compliance AML. Damon was a founding member of the DFW Camaro Club. “War Horse” garage was established in 2014 and became a meeting place for car enthusiasts. He and Christy opened their home to many strays in need.
Damon is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Christy Erpelding of Little Elm, Texas; parents, Ray and Helen Erpelding of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, Joe Chastain and wife, Maigen of Marshall, Texas; sister-in-law, Janis Hemli and husband, Curtis Boyer also of Marshall, Texas; nephews, Jack, Cody, Rusty and Liam; nieces, Kierstyn and Katelyn; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Bill and Sylvia Chastain.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
