Daffin Putman Wade, 91, of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025. Born on October 11, 1933, in Purdon, Texas, Daffin lived a life rich in love, faith, and service to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Daffin Putman and Eunice Compton Putman; her stepmother Loretta Bennett Putman; her beloved husband of 60 years, James Alton Wade; their infant son, Terry Alton Wade; and their son, James Gregory Wade.
Daffin is survived by her devoted daughter, Drusilla Wade Newman (Jim), and cherished grandchildren: Lauren Newman Burge (Ben), Whitney Newman Brubaker (Chad), all of Frisco; Jared Wade of Howe, Texas, Jordon Wade of Colbert, Oklahoma; and her great-grandsons Lenox Reed Burge and Lincoln Wade Burge. She adored each of them, including their pets whom she lovingly considered her “grandpets.”
Daffin graduated from Purdon High School, Purdon, Texas, in 1951. She earned her degree in fashion and interior design from North Texas State College (now UNT) in 1954. It was during her time there that she met the love of her life, James. They married on May 1, 1954, and began a lifetime partnership filled with faith, family and hard work.
Together, Daffin and James operated the family farm supply store and Weston Grain Company, a labor of love that reflected their shared values. Daffin also spent over 30 years as a dedicated substitute teacher in Frisco and Prosper, touching countless young lives with her warmth and wisdom.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frisco, where she served faithfully as a youth Sunday School teacher, preschool teacher, librarian, GA Camp Counselor and a member of the WMU. Her service extended beyond church walls—she was a school room mother, Cub Scout leader, PTA member and Band Parent president.
Daffin had a zest for life and a wide array of talents. She loved to paint, read, sew, and decorate cakes—especially wedding cakes crafted with skill and care. A great conversationalist, she found joy in visits and phone calls with friends and relatives.
She was a constant presence at ballgames, concerts, and agricultural shows, cheering on her children and grandchildren with pride. Her deep love of animals lives on in her family, who carry on her compassionate spirit.
Daffin’s life was one of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
